>> Full-time soundman and part-time WMSE production engineer John Michaels has contributed his Top Ten rules for van tours, and his Top Ten rules for Club Etiquette, both of which can be found on the Resources page of this website. Bands - whether just starting out or having been around for a whilte - will want to read his hard-learned advice for these experiences, and others might just want to see what happens behind the scenes. Thanks, John!
>> We are thrilled to announce the launch of a brand new wmse.org, still in the Beta testing stage, but with some great new features. Most exciting of all is the videos page, which is gradually growing with footage of a number of live performances from the past year. Thanks to our friends at Aboutface Media for lending their time and talents in documenting these great performances.

>> The Fall Membership Drive kicks off on Wednesday, October 31st, and we ask that you consider lending your financial support to WMSE this Fall. Twice a year we take to the airwaves to raise the money needed to meet our operating budget for the next six months, and each time we invite twenty or so area bands down the studios to make the week fun. This time around is no different, and an updated schedule on this site's "Tune In" page. You can pledge online anytime by going to wmse.org.
>> Besides the usual t-shirts, CD's, and sweatshirts we always offer during our Membership Drive, WMSE has put together a unique thank-you gift this Fall: a cookbook. The 240-page "wmsEATS", a cookbook from the left of the dial right to your kitchen, will be available to anyone who makes a donation of $30 or more to the station this time around. The book includes more than 120 recipes from WMSE's listeners, volunteers, and staff, along with 70 food-themed illustrations by local artists. The first 500 copies will also include a CD of ten original songs about food, written and recorded by Milwaukee-area musicians!

>> The first round of the WMSE/Stone Creek Coffee Roasters "Community + Music" project has ended, but because of your response, the success of the first compilation disc has meant that there will be another in the coming months. The project itself will be bigger and better, with your feedback taken into consideration as we look for new ways to spotlight a number of talented musicians in our city. Look for C+M to be relaunched after the holidays, and thank you for your support!

>> This Thursday, WMSE returns to Summerfest, as the sponsor of Cascio Interstate Music’s Groove Garage stage. As you might expect, we’ll be presenting 33 Milwaukee-area artists who perform original music every day of the World’s Largest Music Festival, happening from June 28 – July 8. Stop by our stage at the South end of the festival grounds, near the Marcus Amphitheater. The bands have been selected to complement the Marcus performers, and things wrap up before the main event beings every evening. A complete schedule is available at interstatemusic.com, or at summerfest.com.
>> In other local music news, Monday, June 25th saw the launch of our Community + Music project, a partnership with Stone Creek Coffee Roasters. Every week, the locally-owned Stone Creek will be playing a compilation disc of local artists in all eight of their Milwaukee-area locations. You can hear it at the same time every week in all locations, as well as times at the discretion of each shop’s staff and management.
